A contract for the design and supply of the electrical protection system for a Phase Shifting Transformer to be installed on the border among Germany, Luxembourg and France has been signed. This special transformer will increase the controllability of the active power flow, improving the exploitation of the existing electricity infrastructure and avoiding overload outages in such an important node of the European interconnected transmission system.

A contract for EBOP and MBOP supplies for a new hydroelectric plant under construction in Ivory Cost has been signed. STE Energy will develop its own services and supplies for the construction of a new Dam and Hydro Power Station to generate 44MW new green power, the site it is at approximately 150km from Abidjan, the largest city and former capital city of Ivory Cost

STE Energy reaches another important milestone in Operation & Maintenance. The new remote control center for the management of a group of hydropower plants of about 50 MW located in the southern part of Sardinia was officially opened in the presence of the General Manager of ENAS (Ente Acque della Sardegna) Eng. Maurizio Cittadini and our CEO Eng. Fabio Pasut.

STE Energy will provide a 24/7 turnkey O&M service with highly qualified personnel and with cutting-edge tools and techniques for predictive maintenance and plant performance maximization. A big thank you to all the people involved and good luck with this exciting new adventure.

STE Energy commitment in the small and mini hydro is still strong. Low environmental impact is a strong driver on the new and developing hydropower plants. A detailed case study in which the exploiting of an existing civil infrastructure is presented in a scientific MDPI article intitled “Hydropower Case Study Collection: Innovative Low Head and Ecologically Improved Turbines, Hydropower in Existing Infrastructures, Hydropeaking Reduction, Digitalization and 2Governing Systems.

STE Energy will once again be a key player at the HYDRO 2020 Conference & Exhibition. The event will bring together delegates from around the world to focus on the most relevant topics facing the sector today. In a change from the usual in-person format, this year’s event will take place online.

Rio Escondido high voltage substation under construction in Chile. STE Energy’s staff on site for the construction of the steel structures of the Rio Escondido high voltage substation. The connected solar plant is located in the Atacama Region, near the city of Copiapó, and will have an installed capacity of 145 MW.

STE Energy carried out Voltage Regulation tests on the biggest Italian solar power plant.
The results show the capability of renewable sources to aid the electric grid managing the reactive power of the power conversion systems. STE can help renewable power producers to control and deliver the requested reactive power by the TSOs according to the newest TSOs standards.

STE has completed a full campaign of technical investigations on the HV Substation serving the largest European water lifting plant, in Apulia (Southern Italy).

The results of these specialized tests revealed the weak points of this complex system and therefore allowed to carry out the corrective actions necessary to bring the reliability of the infrastructure back to the optimal level.

An increasing number of renewable energy producers and large industrial companies have entrusted their high and medium voltage electricity infrastructure to STE Energy.
